Astralis Compete at EPL 14 with Lucky Instead of Xyp9x, Who Considers Leaving the Team

Astralis have started competing at ESL Pro League Season 14 with a change in their roster – Philip "Lucky" Ewald is replacing Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth. With this line-up, the team has already won their first match within Group A against Team Spirit (2-1).

Meanwhile Xyp9x has revealed that he is currently in talks with both Astralis and other organizations, exploring his options as his contract with the Danish club expires by the end of the year. He says it is possible that he will create new team or join an established roster. Currently however nothing is set in stone.

18-years-old Lucky joined Astralis last month as a sixth player. Initially he was supposed to temporarily replace Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander this fall, when the latter will enter his fatherhood. The young player is also an AWPer, a role the team has been lacking since dev1ce’s departure from the team in April. He finished the series against Spirit with a 40-39-9 KDA ratio.

Shortly before signing Lucky, Astralis extended their contract with the team’s captain Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander for another three years. Meanwhile the contracts of other core members of the team are set to expire by the end of 2021. Previously it was reported that the team’s coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen also might depart the team and be replaced by Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen, who recently decided to leave Heroic.

ESL Pro League Season 14 is an online event with 24 participating teams and $750,000 up for grabs. The tournament started yesterday with Group A, which will conclude on August 20th. Besides Astralis and Spirit, the group features Heroic, Vitality, ENCE and Bad News Bears. The other groups will be played one by one, with top three teams from each group advancing to the playoffs.
