Beastcoast to Miss the Major as their Players were Exposed to COVID-19
The American organization Beastcoast has revealed that their Dota 2 roster will not be able to participate in ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 because their players were exposed to COVID-19.
According to the organization’s statement, the captain of the team Steven "StingeR" Vargas was exposed to COVID-19. While currently the player is isolated from the other members of the team, it is still possible that they were also exposed to the virus. All players have been tested for COVID-19 and returned negative results, but due to the incubation period it is impossible to know for certain whether the players are infected or not. For this reason, the organization decided to withdraw from the major.
Being the champions of the South American Dota Pro Circuit, beastcoast were supposed to start the major from the playoffs stage. As of now, the major’s organizers have not announced any additional adjustments to the event’s format.
Earlier NAVI withdrew from the major due to its players having COVID-19, and PGL adjusted the event’s format so that one additional team from Wild Card will advance to the groups. Some other teams, including Nigma, Quincy Crew and T1, will compete at the major with stand-ins.
