Chinese Teams Unable to Return Home after WePlay AniMajor
It has been reported that four Chinese teams that competed at WePlay AniMajor – PSG.LGD, Invictus Gaming, Vici Gaming and Team Aster – are unable to return home. Their flight has been cancelled due to recent additional lockdown measures in China. WePlay confirmed the problem and assured that they are working on its resolution.
Zhang "xiao8" Ning, who is currently coaching the major’s winners PSG.LGD, commented on the situation during a stream. He revealed that the next flight to China is scheduled for June 30th, however they might not have enough time to make visas to Sweden. He believes that it is better to remain in Kyiv and then go directly to Stockholm for The International. Currently his team is taking a short break from Dota 2, however the players decided to not leave the hotel to avoid catching COVID-19.
Earlier the Chinese teams experienced problems with getting to Kyiv ahead of the major. The organizer booked them return tickets in advance, however they were voided due to “changes in the European airspace”, likely referring to an incident with a forced landing of a Ryanair’s flight in Minsk, Belarus. Then WePlay managed to organize a private flight, which was supposed to bring the teams to Kyiv and then return to China.
WePlay AniMajor concluded this weekend with PSG.LGD defeating EG in the grand finals. All four Chinese participants managed to get enough DPC points to be directly invited to The International 10, which will be played on August 5th – 15th at Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
