Fnatic’s Upset to Miss Worlds’ Group Stage
Fnatic have announced that their bot laner – Elias "Upset" Lipp – will miss at least some part of the ongoing Group Stage at 2021 World Championship. Due to an urgent family matter, he needed to go back home to Germany. It is unknown when he will be able to return to the team’s active roster.
Being the runner-ups of LEC Summer, Fnatic start their path through Worlds 2021 in the Group Stage. There they will compete in Group C alongside PSG Talon, Royal Never Give Up and Hanwha Life Esports. While Upset is away, the team will play with Louis "Bean" Schmitz, who has been a member of the organization’s youth squad since for almost a year. The organization revealed that Bean has been with the team for the last few weeks, preparing for the event.
League of Legends World Championship is currently in its Main Group Stage, which has started earlier today. There sixteen teams compete in four groups with double round-robin format and best-of-one matches. The groups are as follows:
- Group A: DAMWON Gaming, Rogue, Cloud9, FunPlus Phoenix
- Group B: Edward Gaming, 100 Thieves, T1, DetonatioN FocusMe
- Group C: Royal Never Give Up, Fnatic, Hanwha Life Esports, PSG Talon
- Group D: MAD Lions, Gen.G Esports, Team Liquid, LNG Esports
