FURIA Bench Junior and Promote Honda
FURIA Bench Junior and Promote Honda
FURIA Esports have returned to a fully Brazilian squad – the organization has announced that the American player Paytyn "Junior" Johnson is no longer part of the active roster. To complete their line-up the organization decided to promote Lucas "honda" Honda, who earlier was the team’s sixth player.
Junior joined FURIA this January, transitioning from Triumph. With him in the roster the team managed to place 3rd – 4th at ESL Pro League 13 and 5 – 8th at BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2021. The team’s coach Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira explained that Junior was benched due to his poor performance – the player was not able to reach his potential due to language barrier and homesickness. Now the player will return to the USA and will try to get his form back.
20-years-old Honda, a former member of FURIA Academy, joined the team’s main roster in January as a sixth member. While Junior was unable to get to Brazil in January, honda replaced him at BLAST Premier: Global Finals 2020 and cs_summit 7, where the team placed 7 – 8th and 5 – 8th respectively. The team’s next announced event is IEM XVI – Cologne, which is scheduled for July 6th – 18th.
