PGL to Host the Next CS:GO Major this May in Belgium
The Romanian tournament organizer PGL will host their second CS:GO major in a row – PGL Major Antwerp 2022 will be held on May 9th – 22th at a 18,400-capacity arena the Antwerps Sportpaleis. The company hopes that the playoffs will be played in front of a live audience; however, it might change due to the epidemiological situation.
Contrary to the previous major – PGL Major Stockholm 2021 – the prize pool is back to $1,000,000 from $2,000,000. It will be the fifth major in a row to take place in a European city – before the Stockholm Major, the events also took place in Berlin, Katowice, and London. It is expected the this year’s second major will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – earlier ESL tried to organize the event there several times, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The participants of the major will be determined through the Regional Major Rankings event, the details on which have not been revealed yet. Earlier however we reported that these events might be played on LANs in three regions – if it happens, six current regions will be combined into three: the Americas, Europe and Asia.
