RNG Defeat Aster to Win Huya Winter Invitational
The final Dota 2 event of the year – Huya Winter Invitational – has concluded this weekend. In the tournament’s grand finals Royal Never Give Up outplayed Team Aster to claim ~$30,000 in prize money.
Both Aster and RNG qualified for playoffs from Group B, where they placed 1st and 2nd respectively. While Aster managed to make it all the way through the upper bracket, defeating Invictus Gaming (2-0), CDEC Gaming (2-1) and Neon Esports (2-0), RNG lost to Neon in the very first round and had to advance through the lower bracket – there they managed to win 2-0 four series in a row, defeating iG.Vitality, CDEC Gaming, Phoenix Gaming, and Neon Esports. The final series concluded with the 3-2 score.
Playoffs Bracket:
Huya Winter Invitational was held from December 13th to December 27th, featuring 12 Chinese teams competing for a ¥600,000 (~$92,000) prize pool. For RNG, this is the first victory since April.
