Sentinels Win VCT 2021 Stage 1 NA: Challengers 1

Sentinels have become the champions of the first Challengers event of the North American VALORANT Champions Tour 2021. In the tournament’s grand finals they outplayed Immortals, securing $20,000 in prize money. Both teams, as well as Luminosity and XSET, who placed 3rd and 4th respectively, advanced to the second Challengers tournament.

The event was played from February 4th to 8th, featuring 8 teams competing in a double-elimination bracket. After losing to Luminosity (0-2) in the very first match, Sentinels had to make it through the entire lower bracket – there they defeated Andbox (2-0), Gen.G Esports (2-1), XSET (2-0) and Luminosity (2-1). In the grand finals they emerged victorious at all three maps, however Immortals had a 1-map advantage, so the series concluded with the 3-1 score.

The second Challengers event will be played next week, on February 18th – 21st. Besides four best teams of the first event, the tournament will feature four winners of the open qualifiers.
