Team Liquid and 100 Thieves Qualify for 2021 World Championship
Two participants of LCS Summer 2021 – 100 Thieves and Team Liquid – have qualified for 2021 World Championship thanks to reaching the winners’ finals of the event. The teams will face each other this Sunday, August 22nd, on 10:00 UK time.
Team Liquid started the split from the quarterfinals, where they defeated Cloud9 (3-1), and later they managed to outplay TSM (3-1) in the semifinals. Meanwhile 100 Thieves began competing in the semis, where they beat Evil Geniuses (3-2). Next the event will feature the second round of the lower bracket, where TSM will take on Immortals (August 19th, 11:00 PM), and EG will compete with Cloud9 (August 20th, 11:00 PM).
Playoffs Bracket:
While the dates of 2021 World Championship remain unknown, earlier RIOT Games revealed that the event will be held in five Chinese cities, namely in Shanghai, Qingdao, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. The tournament’s prize pool is set at $2,225,000 and will be distributed between 24 participants – besides 100 Thieves and Team Liquid, the line-up already includes DAMWON Gaming from LCK and Rogue with MAD Lions from LEC.
