Team Vitality’s Captain apEX Takes a Break
Team Vitality’s coach Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam has decided that the squad’s captain Dan "apEX" Madesclaire requires a break from competitions due to personal problems. It remains unknown when the player will be able to come back to the active line-up.
27-years-old aPEX has been leading Vitality since late 2018. Under his direction, last year the team managed to win BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 European Showdown, BLAST Premier: Fall 2020 Regular Season and BLAST Premier: Fall 2020 Finals. Earlier this year the team finished 3rd at BLAST Premier: Global Final 2020.
In January Team Vitality were fined $10,000 by ESIC – during the a few matches within BLAST Premier Global Final, the team was competed with a stream playing behind their backs. Although there were no evidence to suggest that the team used the stream to gain advantage, the commission still decided to fine them as an example of their “zero-tolerance policy” towards stream-sniping. The statement of the team’s coach suggest that these accusations were one of the issues that affected the players performance.
This week the team competed in the second group of BLAST Premier: Spring 2021, where they placed last after losing to Complexity (0-2) and Evil Geniuses (1-2). The team played the second match already without apEX. Next week the team is expected to partake in IEM XV – World Championship, an online $1,000,000 event scheduled for February 16th – 28th.
